1990 Yugo GVC convertible
I am a fan of cars from the Eastern Bloc. This isn’t one of those ironic things like growing a bad mustache for hipness, I just dig how they are engineered and their perpetual boxy shape.
I had no idea that Yugo made a convertible, I can’t imagine that there was a big market for drop tops in the former Soviet republics that tends to have severely cold weather. It’s a little funky and has a strong resemblance to the short lived Geo Metro convertible.
This example has a very yellow exterior over a gray interior and it appears to be in almost new condition. It’s listed with 370-miles but the title indicates that the mileage is exempt and thusly it’s pretty tough to verify how much it has been driven.
It’s powered by a 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine that is paired with a three-speed manual transmission. You don’t see many Yugos on the roads and it’s likely due to their poor design and production but if it is running you will stick out from the crowd.
