Tesla is known for it’s high end electric vehicles and recently been talks of controversy after the manufacture recalled almost a million vehicles over a power issue with the windows, this was fixed by a system update. However this week, Tesla announced it had built 3,000 Model Y‘s in a single week.
The news comes after the Berlin Tesla factory team achieved to build an incredible amount of vehicles in a single week. This means Tesla had built 18 cars an hour which are now ready to be placed in showrooms across the country/world or sold to those that have placed an order straight from the production line.
In a Twitter post by the official Tesla account, the tweet says;
"”Congrats to the Giga Berlin team on building 3k Model Y this week!”"
On October 1st 2022, Tesla shared the news that the manufacturing team at Giga Berlin had built 2,000 model’s in a single week, which is a 25% increase on Octobers figures. The car firm is aiming to build 5,000 Model Y’s in a single week before 2023.
Though the Model Y has a retail price of £50,000 per vehicle, the demand is clearly high for those that want to own an all electric vehicle. The Model Y comes as a SUV and is able to accelerate 0-62mph in 3.4 seconds which is fast for an electric vehicle.
A reason why this specific model is in huge demand is because it is integrated with super fast charging technology, therefore meaning drivers do not have to wait a long time whilst charging the vehicle. The range between charges is from 285-350 miles which is plenty of miles to use if you only drive locally.
The Model Y is also similar to the previous Model 3, however is built 10% bigger with a battery pack that runs under the vehicle which keeps the vehicle’s wheel on the ground because of the weight. Nonetheless, the Model Y is definitely in the lead of all the EV electric car brands because of the range, sustainability of this model and also the time which is taken to charge.
