Regarding performance, the 2023 Toyota GR86 is easily among the best sports cars of the modern age. This is because it’s simply a well-rounded and straight forward vehicle that’s not overpowered. According to Edmunds, the Toyota GR86 has a 2.4-liter flat-four engine with a maximum output of 228 horsepower. Its power is 23 more horses than the 2022 Toyota GR86. This model’s torque is 184 lb-ft at 3,700 RPM. Like any good sports car, the GR86 is a rear-wheel drive vehicle.

Regarding the transmission, the GR86 comes standard with a six-speed manual transmission. However, there are also automatic options. In terms of speed, the car is fast without being unapproachable. It accelerates from 0 to 60 in 5.8 seconds. It’s also one of the best sports cars for fuel economy, as it averages 20 miles per gallon in the city and 27 mpg on the highway.

This is a sports car with a rear seat

There are a few notable trade-offs when it comes to sports car ownership. One of the significant drawbacks is the typical omission of a backseat. Luckily, the Toyota GR86 is an exception. This car also has a pretty good sound system, as the base model has a six-speaker setup, while upgraded trims have eight-speakers.
