Like the previous models of the now long-running nameplate, the new Ford Escape is a worthy option for practically any driver because it’s so approachable and versatile. Of course, the Ford Escape also delivers strong performance.

Here’s a look into what makes the 2024 Ford Escape one of the best small SUVs.

The 2024 Ford Escape delivers solid power

One of the reasons the 2024 Ford Escape is among the best small SUVs is that it has multiple engine options. According to Edmunds, the first option is a turbocharged 1.5-liter inline-three with a maximum output of 180 horsepower and a torque of 199 lb-ft. The Escape has front and all-wheel drive configurations and uses an eight-speed automatic transmission.

There is also a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four engine that makes a max of 250 horsepower and a torque of 280 lb-ft. The last option is a 192 horsepower 2.5-liter hybrid engine with a torque of 155 lb-ft. Instead of the eight-speed, this version has an electronically variable transmission. Regarding speed, the three-cylinder 2024 Ford Escape accelerates from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 8.3 seconds. The four-cylinder does the feat in an impressive 6.9 seconds.

The 2024 Ford Escape is also one of the best small SUVs because of its fuel economy. The 1.5-liter averages 27 miles per gallon in the city and 34 MPG on the highway, while the 2.0-liter option grants 23 MPG in the city and 31 MPG on the highway. Regarding the hybrid, it’s 42 MPG in the city and 36 MPG on the highway. This is similar to the 2023 Ford Escape.

The new Ford Escape also has a modern and comfortable interior. Not only does it use high-quality materials throughout, but there’s a ton of space for people to spread out despite this being a small SUV. Many people will also like that the 2024 Ford Escape has automatic dual-zone climate control. Regarding seating, it comes with an eight-way adjustable power driver seat and a four-way manual passenger seat. Buyers can add heated front seats.

Regarding interior technology, the 2024 Ford Escape has an eight-inch LCD Capacitive touchscreen. However, buyers can upgrade it to a 13.2-inch unit. The system uses Sync 4 and works with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. In terms of the sound system, it comes standard with six speakers, but this can be upgraded to a 10-speaker unit with a subwoofer from Bang & Olufsen. The SUV also has an eight-inch digital cluster. Of course, the 2023 Ford Escape also has a solid interior.
