Meet APX GP F1 Team: The Brad Pitt-highlighted team set for the big screen in 2025
APX GP F1 Team is set to make its big screen debut in 2025, showcasing the story of Sonny Hayes making his way back to the pinnacle of motorsports and trying build the team up to a contender.
The Mercedes-supported team, which had been a bottom-feeder group, brings Hayes in to help bolster the program and make it a podium-contending team on the grid.
Through the journey, Hayes, Pitt's character, makes stops in other disciplines of motorsports, including in IMSA's #120 Chip Hart Racing (Wright Motorsports) Porsche, competting in the 2024 Rolex 24.
Over the past several months, APX GP F1 Team has kept fans in the loop with their race performances on social media, with both the team and Sonny Hayes showcasing race weekends through Instagram.
The team has seen success based off the posts, with finishes towards the podium, scoring points this season.
During the film, F1 stars such as Max Verstappen, Lewis Hamilton, Carlos Sainz and the other 17 current F1 drivers make appearances with the tandem, encapsulating a full F1 weekend.
Even everyone's favorite Team Principal, Guenther Steiner, makes an appearance in the motion picture.
APX GP F1 Team & Chip Hart Racing In Real Life?
Obviously, all of what is said above is factitious, adding to the realistic integrety of the film, but imagine if APX GP and Chip Hart Racing were competting in real world competition.
While APX GP may be in a similar position as they are in the film, towards the back of the grid, Chip Hart Racing could compete given the team's running of a Porsche 911.
Porsche has been very strong in IMSA competition this year amongst the GTP, GTD Pro and GTD classes and could be a viable threat of winning races.
BOP would be interesting to see with Chip Hart Racing but there is potential for success with a team backed by Porsche, especially in IMSA where the competition level is at a parody.
In F1, there is a lot more involved which could make a new team on the grid challenging to find solid results early, even with a Mercedes powertrain.
Big Screen Blockbuster?
It has been a while since we have seen an F1-based movie and the big key of it being a success is the numbers.
Based on all the work done to make this movie as realistic as possible, it should have all the content needed to truly make it seem like you are at the F1 circuit or behind-the-scenes with a team.
The important thing is, the movie should'nt try to overplay itself.
You want to make the film feel like it is staged in real-life, rather than being corney or scripted.
Especially with the movie carrying the F1 title and branding, it is vital that this movie delivers.
Obviously, F1 has grown due to its on-screen work with Drive to Survive but can "F1" live up to that?
It has the attention of detail too; it's just a matter of how the flow of the film is and how it plays out on the theater screen.
