Breaking: Full Top Gear Cast Revealed
By Paulo Acoba
This is Top Gear’s new magnificent seven.
This is it guys. You’re looking at the full cast for the reincarnation of Top Gear UK. According to BBC Top Gear earlier Thursday, the full lineup includes Chris Evans, Chris Harris, Sabine Schmitz, Eddie Jordan, Matt LeBlanc and Rory Reid. Of course, The Stig returns providing his ace driving skills (some say…)
We’ve known a long time that Chris Evans was head hunted shortly after Jeremy Clarkson exited the show( stage right by fracas) along with James May and Richard Hammond. We’ve heard rumors of Sabine Schmitz and Chris Harris trying out but nothing official. Earlier this week we also heard rumblings-about that Eddie Jordan was joining. Matt LeBlanc was confirmed just this the weekend. By the looks of things, the 23rd season of Top Gear will be chock full of knowledgeable presenters with plenty of driving experience under their belts.
First, there’s Chris Evans. A personality bred and born behind BBC radio’s most popular breakfast show. We’ve known he’d been picked since June of last year with a three-year contract.
Sabine Schmitz, a.k.a. the queen of the Nurburgring, is a professional racing driver for BMW and Porsche and has cut her teeth as the ace choice for many endurance racing teams. Last year Sabine made her debut in WTCC (World Touring Car Championship.
If you’ve watched any Formula 1 in the past, you’re already aware of Eddie Jordan of Jordan Grand Prix racing. As a former racer himself in Formula Three and infamous team manager, he’s most remembered for giving one Micheal Schumacher his debut. Since 2009, he returned to F1 as a pundit for BBC Sports coverage and has broken many stories long before anyone caught wind of them (Lewis Hamilton moving to Mercedes etc.)
Matt LeBlanc, a.k.a. Joey from friends, is well known for his motoring prowess and fine collection of cars. Matt’s broken the “Star in a reasonably priced car” before and many UK viewers are well aware who he is. A nice tie-in for UK and US viewers we think.
Chris Harris heralded in a new age of media becoming known worldwide as first a journalist who was a racing driver making his internet name on The Smoking Tire’s /Drive channel aided by his driving skills. If you haven’t seen a Chris Harris drift video yet, be prepared to be amazed.
Rory Reid is the relative newcomer to an American audience and is an award-winning motoring journalist and TV presenter in the UK. We’ve dug up his showreel from last year and it’s pretty hilarious. Rory will add plenty of character and humor where needed.

This cast is quite amazing on its own and production is happening as we speak. Excited for a new season? You bet we are. Top Gear plans a return by May so a new episode is just around the corner. We think the exit of Clarkson, May and Hammond may have created a great show in its wake. Fans of the Old Top Gear just might watch both.
