Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson shared on Instagram an image from his upcoming movie Rampage, and the frame had space for the 2004 Ford Bronco concept.

Remember the 2004 Ford Bronco concept? Well, it’s back to grab some more eyeballs after fading off from our memories post its debut at the 2004 North American International Auto Show. The concept has now re-emerged in an Instagram pic shared by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson who plays the lead role in the 2018 video game adaptation monster movie – Rampage.

The 2004 Ford Bronco concept looks poised to get some serious screen time alongside the movie’s leads – The Rock and Naomie Harris. The image that has been shared online shows the lead pair rushing out of the Ford Bronco concept in what could possibly be one the highlight set pieces of the monster movie.

Rampage which is based on the 1980s video game of the same name is directed by Brad Peyton, also stars Malin Åkerman, Joe Manganiello, Jake Lacy, Marley Shelton, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. The movie will be joining the likes of Godzilla and King Kong in terms of presenting giant monsters wreaking havoc on cities.

The Rock is a spokesperson for Ford service centers and his involvement in the project will also see Ford vehicles being featured prominently in the production.

Here’s the IMDb summary.

"Primatologist Davis Okoye, a man who keeps people at a distance, shares an unshakable bond with George, the extraordinarily intelligent, silverback gorilla who has been in his care since birth. But a rogue genetic experiment gone awry transforms this gentle ape into a raging monster. To make matters worse, it’s soon discovered there are other similarly altered alpha predators. As these newly created monsters tear across North America, destroying everything in their path, Okoye teams with a discredited genetic engineer to secure an antidote, fighting his way through an ever-changing battlefield, not only to halt a global catastrophe but to save the fearsome creature that was once his friend."

The carmaker has been extremely secretive about the design and details of the Ford Bronco off-roader which is set to return in 2020.

More from Movie Cars

Set for release on April 20, 2018, Rampage is the second time that The Rock and Brad Peyton are joining forces with their previous association being San Andreas. That movie made around $473 million worldwide. Hopefully, Rampage will repeat the success of the 2015 disaster flick.

Ford was quick to point out to Automotive News that the appearance of the 2004 Ford Bronco concept in the 2018 summer movie shouldn’t be taken as an indication of the actual car’s design being based on the concept in question.

"The Ford Bronco seen in Dwayne Johnson’s upcoming movie, ‘Rampage,’ is the 2004 Bronco concept. It does not represent the future Bronco beyond sharing the iconic Bronco name."

As announced by manufacturer in January 2017, the new Ford Bronco is expected to arrive in 2020 and will be featuring a design which is much different from that of the 2004 concept. The midsize 4X4 off-roader will be built in the US, at Ford’s Michigan facility.
