Honest Trailers took The Fate of the Furious and threw it under a tank in their latest YouTube video. And as always they have some sensible points amidst all the humor and sarcasm.

The Fate of the Furious a.k.a Fast 8 had a lot to live up to, as it directly followed the box office and global sensation that was Furious 7. And though it did deliver almost everything that the fans have come to expect from these movies, Fast 8 did have its share of issues. That’s what Screen Junkies Honest Trailers have delved into with their latest YouTube video.

The Honest Trailer for The Fate of the Furious is out now and the EpicVoiceGuy, in his signature epic voice brings out a lot of worms which infested one of the biggest blockbusters of the year. But Honest Trailers are also about the good stuff about a movie. So, you get to hear the nice things as well about The Fate of the Furious in this video.

There are questions which the viewers and ardent fans of the franchise have always had but never bothered to think about. How a bunch of carjackers and street racers transformed into an elite mercenary hit squad for the US government is still baffling. But that’s character arc and development for you. Just like how the movie series which started off with street racing, before becoming heist movies and then turning into globetrotting action adventure vehicles which have got espionage thriller undertones. The franchise has evolved unlike some of its contemporaries.

Honest Trailers still find Fast Five to be the benchmark that the sequels haven’t managed to top yet.

Honest Trailers also pokes at the franchise’s addiction to the combinations of F words and numbers in the titles and adds that The Fate of the Furious has everything that fans ever wanted from the series – cars, not cars, family and Vin Diesel’s mumble-growl. Fast 8 also had a lot of “whispering” dialogue deliveries from Charlize Theron, which didn’t go down well with the EpicVoiceGuy.

Among the good stuff about Fast 8 was the amazing camaraderie between Jason Statham and The Rock. Universal Pictures is planning a spinoff with those two.

More from Movie Cars

Among the good stuff about Fast 8, they have stated how awesome it was to have the Luke Hobbs-Deckard Shaw bromance in the movie and how those two got to be in the best scenes and memorable moments throughout the actioner. A spinoff is in the works and that’s worth waiting for. We could really use a Hobbs and Shaw buddy cop action-comedy and that’ll be a welcome change from the Vin Diesel-centric movies.

The Honest Trailer also brings in the topic of Vin Diesel and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson not sharing screen space much because of their off-screen feud. There is also a reference to Michelle Rodriguez’s controversial statement on women being sidelined in the series and her plans to exit. Oh… and the prospect of seeing a Fast and Furious movie set in space is also touched upon.

Cipher’s whispering wasn’t as menacing as Fast 8’s makers wanted it to be. You can do better than that, Charlize!

And as any other Fast and Furious Honest Trailer, this one too gets the “Starring” segment loaded with car-puns. While some of them try too hard, most of the jokes land where they are intended to. And almost everything sounds epic and hilarious in Jon Bailey’s voice.

It concludes with a post-credits scene which shows the video that Vin Diesel uploaded on Instagram after Michelle Rodriguez’s “threat” to leave the franchise. And yes, the EpicVoiceGuy laughs at that one too, as many found it to be an example of Diesel pushing his co-star to come forward and make a statement which will clear him off any bad PR.
