This Is The 2018 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 NASCAR Cup Race Car

Chevrolet unveils the 2018 Camaro ZL1 as its Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series contender.
Set to debut next February at the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup series with Jimmie Johnson at the wheel, Chevrolet hopes the Camaro ZL1 can continue the momentum on a record 30 Cup championships. The ZL1 will replace the SS race car as the brand’s new face on the track with the racing debut set for Daytona Speedweeks, which will kick off the 2018 NASCAR season.
The official word isn’t out on how fast and how quick the new contender can go. But Chevrolet’s press release has stated the following on what makes the Camaro ZL1 NASCAR race car a force to reckon with on the track.
"Chevrolet engineers employed an array of tools, including computational fluid dynamics analysis and reduced-scale and full-scale wind-tunnel testing, to optimize aerodynamic performance while maintaining the ZL1’s design character."

According to Mark Reuss, executive vice president of GM Global Product Development:
"Chevrolet, Camaro, and ZL1 are all synonymous with winning, both on and off the track. We are thrilled to run Camaro in NASCAR next year, with the time-honored and track-tested ZL1 badge, and we’re just as excited for our drivers, teams, fans, and customers."
This upgrade is a good choice made by the brand as the Camaro Zl1 is a perfect replacement for the outgoing Chevrolet SS-based racer. The Camaro ZL1 racer will be competing alongside the Camaro SS race car, the latter of which has been competing in the the NASCAR XFINITY Series for some time.

The car’s #8 stickers pay tribute to Louis Chevrolet’s historic competition number and the designers have also done a remarkable job of maintaining the production ZL1’s identifiable visual cues while working on the NASCAR version. Top marks there too.
