The 2018 Ford GT ’67 Heritage Edition is the definition of retro-cool and it’s built by Ford Performance to honor the 1967 Le Mans victory.

The Ford GT is the most-talked-about American car of the year. Well, it is one of the most-talked-about-American cars of the year, as the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is also around. Jay Leno has got himself an example of the Ford GT from the first batch of deliveries too.

Ford has now unveiled a limited edition run of the GT named the ’67 Heritage Edition. It’s a tribute to the GT40 Mark IV race car driven by Dan Gurney and AJ Foyt, to Le Mans triumph in 1967. Ah, the Soaring Sixties.

The limited edition 2018 Ford GT is characterized by striking looks and equal sensory overload in its interior and exterior styling. The car features an exposed carbon package with a gloss red finish, striking body graphics with red and white stripes and enough curves to leave your head spinning. Additionally, hood and door graphics display large ‘1’s in homage to the Le Mans-winning car. 20-inch forged aluminum wheels pound the pavement and other add-ons include red calipers and silver mirror caps for a sleek finish.

From the fiery paint job to the racing stickers and all the embellishments inside, the Ford GT ’67 Heritage Edition is a cool throwback at an era which saw Ford at its peak.

Capping off its interior are carbon-fiber seats in leather trim and eye-popping red accent stitching on the seats and steering wheel. Door sills, air vents, and center console are all constructed out of matte carbon-fiber.

According to Garen Nicoghosian, Exterior Design Manager of the 2018 Ford GT ’67 heritage Edition,

"“The first Heritage edition car was a huge success, honoring our history with a modern interpretation of the Le Mans winner. Continuing with a 2018 Ford GT based on the winning GT40 Mark IV race car was simply something we needed to do.”"

At this rate, Ford is more than likely ready to produce more special editions to honor the 1968 and 1969 Le Mans victories, both equally deserving all the attention.
