Car Insurance: The 10 most expensive cars to insure
By Wade Thiel
Number 5: Dodge Charger
The Dodge Charger is a large sedan that doubles as a muscle car. The vehicle carries one of Dodge’s most iconic names and can be had with a number of different and powerful powertrains. You’ll pay the price for this sweet ride, though, when it comes to insurance costs. Dodge’s four-door muscle rocket slots in at the number five spot on this list.
Car and Driver called the Charger “a muscle car for the family,” and it’s clear why. The model comes equipped with a 3.6-liter V6 making 292 hp as the base engine, from there you have the choice to upgrade to the 5.7-liter HEMI V8 that makes 370 hp or the 6.4-liter HEMI V8 that makes 485 hp. There’s also the insane Hellcat with a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 making 707 hp, but like with the Dodge Challenger’s Hellcat version, that car is in a different class.
Obviously, the V8 models will be the most expensive to insure. Car Insurance companies aren’t huge fans of sport-tuned muscle cars. They tend to invite their owners to speed and generally make less-safe decisions.
