Full disclosure: I am a former Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auctions employee.

It’s pretty early in 2021, there are 231-days left as I am typing this sentence, but the car auction scene has been bustling thus far. RM Sotheby’s has had two auctions, Arizona in January and Paris in February. Barrett-Jackson had their big auction in Scottsdale in January and Mecum was across town in Glendale in March.

Artcurial, Bonhams and Gooding also hosted great auctions and showed the collector car community the best vehicles available for sale.

I’m a collector car auction aficionado. You get a venue filled with great cars and there is always something for everyone. Regardless of one’s particular taste (I prefer American cars, despite recently selling my Camaro) you can find something to admire or gawk at.

Even if you’re not a big car person they have booze and from experience vodka can make any mundane experience more riveting and fun. Until there is a collector car auction you can attend safely in this Covid era and have a good time at (with or without cocktails) here are the most expensive cars sold at auction in 2021 so far…
