Today is throwback Thursday here at Art of Gears, the special day of the week when we look back some of the most famous cars from the past. This chosen car for this week is chosen by Zain Ullah, it is the one and only Lamborghini Countach.

The Lamborghini Countach is a 2 door rear wheel drive sports car which was first manufactured in 1974. With production lasting 16 years until production of this iconic car was finished in the year 1990 after 1,983 units successfully completed.

This model of the Lamborghini family is fitted with a mid-mounted engine 3.9l; 3929 cc engine which was first used in the sister model, the Lamborghini Miura. The Countach was designed as a pebble shape with a long curved front bonnet hood and a huge rear wing spoiler used to increasing drag to the road surface as this car was built for racing.

The Countach also paved for the way for all supercars that use vertical opening scissor doors as this car was the first to be put through production with doors that opened towards the sky.

The original price of the Countach in the active production years was around $120,000 to $140,000 as buyers did not know how many exact units were to be produced and put on sale on the market. However as in the present time, purchasing a Lamborghini Countach could cost around $430,000 depending on the year, mileage and the condition. Although seeing one driving on the road these days are quite rare, it is safe to say owning a Countach was the dream of every child that witness the production of such an incredible piece of engineering.
