Jeremy Clarkson Finally Sells His CLK63 AMG Black Series
By Paulo Acoba
Jeremy Clarkson took to Twitter yesterday (June. 1, 2015) and announced that he finally sold his 2008 Mercedes Benz CLK 63 AMG Black Series. In a most morose but short tweet, Clarkson stated, “Sad day. I just sold my AMG black.” Thousands of people showed there support for the unfortunate decision by the former Top Gear presenter. Even one Richard Hammond popped in with a reply of his own, albeit not so commiserating. “…to be fair, it’ll be a sadder day for the poor bugger who bought it!”
If there was any one car that epitomized Clarkson as well as bringing so much joy to the man from Doncaster, it would have to be his (was) CLK 63 AMG Black Series. With shouts of, “more power!” being yelled multiple times during Top Gear, Clarkson’s Black Series was that phrase made into car form. With more of a nod to its DTM roots, the Black series took the CLK 63 AMG and added a whole other level to it. After all, rumor is that it was styled after the former Formula 1 pace car. Good enough for F1, good enough for Clarkson.

The CLK 63 AMG Black Series was a simple yet efficient German hammer of a car. With a 6.2 liter naturally asipirated V8 pumping out 500 HP and 478 lbs-ft of torque and capable of blasts to 60 MPH in 4.2 seconds, the CLK 63 AMG Black series was an American hot rod in a German body. When Car and Driver took it out for a spin, they praised its power, sound and handling and Motor Trend called it an F1 Pace Car for the masses. As to WHY Clarkson sold his beloved black remains unknown. Check out Motor Trend’s take on the Black Series below!
