Reckless Driving While High: Parents Release Crash Video As Grim Reminder
By Paulo Acoba
Two youths recorded their final moments on camera as their car sped through a UK town ending in a violent crash. Inexperience, intoxication and drugs were the cause.
No parent ever wants to live longer than their children, but sadly that was the case of for the parents of Kyle Crawford and Micheal Owen. According to Sussex Police on their report earlier yesterday (Oct. 12, 2015) both Kyle and Micheal Owen were speeding well over the speed limit through Sussex sometimes 30 MPH over. Many witnesses recount seeing the speeding car, a Renault Clio, weaving through night-time traffic and generally posing a danger to motorists around them. Unfortunately for both, they lost control of their car and slammed into the walls of a local church. Both immediately passed shortly thereafter.
"The inquest heard how the two friends, both from Royal Tunbridge Wells, but staying in Crowborough at the time, had both taken a cocktail of prescribed and illegal drugs that would have resulted in severe toxicity and have had a severely detrimental effect on Kyle’s ability to control the car. This was compounded by his inexperience – he did not have a license and was uninsured to drive the car, which was owned by Michael."
Video was found of the entire incident taken by the passenger in a nearby cell phone found near the crash scene. In the video we can clearly make out the two young men having what they would consider to be a good time. Zoom ins on the tachometer showed their car coming close to triple digit speeds. Video abruptly ends when their car crashes. Sounds can be heard of concerned parishioners rushing to the scene trying their best to revive the young men.
Their parents initially didn’t want the video released but realized that if anyone saw this video and rethought how they would spend their night driving resulting in lives saved, then some good could come out of an altogether awful situation.
Driving is serious business. Look out for your fellow man. Be aware of what you’re doing and think about the consequences.
