GM is trying their darndest to reach a younger demographic with their 2016 Chevrolet Spark as they’re putting the moniker of “Muscle Hatch” with this SEMA-bound iteration. Earlier today (Oct. 21, 2015) Chevrolet unveiled its Spark RS along with their Redline series bound headed to Las Vegas. Basically, Chevrolet has thrown on the RS package found on a few other Chevrolet models including the Camaro, Sonic and Cruze. RS means the Spark gains a carbon fiber aero kit, some wheels, and a lowered suspension, throwing on what any entry-level car enthusiast would already do. In a bid to make this less than $13,000 economy car sound a bit more sporty, Chevrolet emphasized how every Chevrolet model has the DNA of the Corvette in it. I guess that includes their Equinox and Express Van? We get what you’re saying GM.

"“Every Chevrolet has the DNA of the Corvette and the Spark RS concept shows how the brand’s smallest car can deliver big on personalization,” said Todd Parker, director of design, Global Chevrolet. “It advances the RS heritage and interprets it in an entirely new way."

Supposedly the 17-inch wheels were inspired by the C7 Corvette and we can sort of see what they mean. And a lowered ride height can make any car look sporty so that’s pretty much a prerequisite for a bit more aggressiveness.

We’d personally lose the boy racer stripe, but other than that the 2016 Chevrolet Spark RS makes a bold statement for such a small car. Let’s just hope they don’t price the entire package out of the range of the average Joe.
