RegularCars Gave This Buick Regal GS A Viking Funeral By Dyno
By Paulo Acoba
This particular Buick Regal GS is the equivalent of your friend saying, “Hold my beer watch this.”
The second and fourth generation Buick Regals have always had a quiet reputation for being secret sleepers in the automotive world. Understated, chock full of power and a chassis that can’t seem to handle the torque, the Regal is America’s approach to hustling down an open stretch of road as quickly as possible. So when RegularCars got to witness a modified Regal whose sole purpose was to see how much power it could give before junking it (Nov. 5, 2015) the internet was in for a treat. Check out that video below.

From the factory, the fourth generation Buick Regal GS was already a pretty special bit of kit. With a 3.8 liter L 67 engine factory supercharged (low boost mind you) up to 240 HP and 280 lb-ft of torque all to the front wheels (torque steer much) the GS could easily lay the smack down on more expensive sports car who didn’t read the badges on the back. 60 MPH came and went in 6.7 seconds and a factory quarter mile time of 14.9 seconds was nothing to sneer at. The Buick Regal in the video…wasn’t exactly as powerful as it once was to say the least. With 280,000 miles on the clock, you can’t really blame it either.

So when these guys slapped a turbo (on top of the supercharger) and equipped it with NOS, they created a glorified tire destroyer, except this one was headed to the scrapyard anyways so they strapped it on the dyno and had some fun. Final power numbers when boost was turned up and nitrous sprayed in? 327 WHP. Not a bad way to sendoff a boat of a car.
