Officially Unveiled: 2017 Infiniti QX30 Premium Active Crossover
By Paulo Acoba
The crossover market is super hot and Infiniti is filling in that premium crossover niche quite nicely.
The debuts are coming thick and hot before the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show and Infiniti just dropped a bomb of a crossover SUV with this Infiniti QX30 unveil. Earlier today (Nov. 17, 2015) Infiniti took the wraps off its QX30 both ready for its debut in L.A. and Guangzhou as admittedly Infiniti is trying its best to get a good foothold in China. The press release was more philosophy behind the move rather than hard numbers, but we get the gist of it. This new crop of buyers in the market for this type of SUV seeks upward mobility but at the same time appreciates a higher ride height and the ability to go off the beaten path, if only an idea.
"“With our recent sales successes and record growth, the current product offensive will further strengthen Infiniti’s global market position. The active crossover, QX30, will broaden our offer to new customers around the world.” Roland Krueger, President of Infiniti"
At first glance, the QX30 is quintessential Infiniti design language. 20 feet away and you could’ve sworn it was a regular Q30 until you get up nice and close. It’s really hard to spot differences between the two, but they’re there and this was all done intentionally as they’ll both share a platform, shell, and range of engines.

You’ll be hard pressed to find any hard lines on this QX30 as smooth flowing taut lines are the order for the day. It’s rugged yet has a touch of class.
No word on what kind of engine will be stuffed under the hood, but as this class has done before, expect a four-cylinder turbo making somewhere between 180-200 HP and 240-260 lb-ft with an optional V6.
Inside, look forward to copious amounts of premium materials with that theme carrying on to the touchpoints.
Will it all be enough to sway buyers away from the Mercedes GLA, Audi Q3, BMW X1 and Lexus NX has to come to light, but once these hit showroom floors , we’ll know.

It’s design is definitely forward thinking and its dimensions are big enough to attract couples and new families with a bit of cash, but there’s something missing that Infiniti has yet to add. We don’t know what exactly. Character? A hotter engine? It just seems a bit…boring if you ask us.
