Lockheed Martin collaborated with Harley-Davidson to create this one-off chopper.

The United States Navy just commissioned their newest littoral combat ship (LSC) called the USS Milwaukee and to mark the special celebration the guys at Lockheed Martin collaborated with the Harley-Davidson to create a one-off custom that pays homage to this coastline sea-faring warrior. According to a press release from Lockheed that dropped earlier this week, the chopper will be auctioned off and proceeds will go to support the National Military Family Association. The chopper itself draws inspiration from the shipping yard which the Milwaukee was made in Marinette, Wisconsin as well as other historic WWII-era bikes that served wartime duties.  Take a look at some of this exclusive footage of the ship being made and set into the war below.

The bike itself sports light grey paint on the tank and fenders in a clear nod to the ships it’s representing. The wire wheels and thick beefy tires ensure that anyone riding this chopper will have plenty of miles of comfortable highway cruising. The header wrap on the exhaust gives the bike a functional and rustic yet modern look.  The letters USN are emblazoned on the tank with Harley Davidson inscribed through it.

According to AutoBlog, the ship itself measures a full 378 feet from bow to stern and boasts a crew of up to 65 sailors. Powering this warship are two Rolls-Royce Gas turbines and two Colt-Pielstick diesel engines that can push this ship up to 54 MPH in no time. Currently, the United States Navy has a total of 24 of these Littoral Class Ships patrolling our nation’s shores  providing tactical support were needed on a moments notice.

Hats off to Harley for making an awesome tribute to the men and women of our armed forces. Motorcycles, for recreational and wartime purposes, have always had a special place for those in the Navy. Cheap on gas, easy to stow at a base or on a ship and relatively inexpensive, motorcycles often are the go-to vehicle for a bit of leisure time fun away from duty and is usually the first vehicle a sailor will bring home after his tour.

And if you want the chance to be a part of the bidding action for this bike, although no details have been released on when and where the auction will take place, it would behoove you to follow NMFA for updates.
