Pricing Announced: Tesla Model X Starts At $80,000
By Paulo Acoba
Tesla announced pricing for the base model Tesla Model X through their configurator.
Just months after the official unveil and the founder series Tesla Model X’s already in the home of those who wanted to be early adopters, it looks like pricing information has been unveiled on the 2016 Tesla Model X. Unlike other announcements on pricing, this time pricing was unveiled on the Tesla’s official configurator with a base MSRP of $80,000 before any cash incentives. An $80,000 base price puts this Tesla Model X at exactly $5,000 more than the Tesla Model S sedan which both share the same chassis and electrical power units.

It’s no secret that the amount of incentives available on the Tesla Model X can seriously lower the price down by several thousands. First, there’s the federal tax incentive valued at approximately $7,500. Then if you live in the state of California, you’re eligible for an additional $2,500. And according to some estimates, if the average American drives around 15,ooo miles a year at the current average gas price of $2.80 (in California) with the average United States fleet MPG combined around 25.5 mpg, you’re looking at a gas savings of around $8,200 in gas over five years, according to Tesla, you’re look at the price of a Tesla Model X dropping to $62,000
Right now, you can choose between the 70D, 90D and P90D, a lot like the Tesla Model S. The 70D gets you 220 miles of range, a top speed of 140 MPH and a 0-60 time of six seconds flat. the 90D gets you to 257 miles of range, a 155 MPH top speed and a 0-60 time of 4.8 seconds. And finally, the P90D adds four-wheel drive capabilities and while range is decreased to 250 miles, 0-60 MPH comes and goes in 3.8 seconds and an astonishing 3.2 seconds in ludicrous mode. All models come with those iconic falcon wing doors.
