The Ford Wixom Plant was an assembly plant that was in operation for fifty years from 1957-2007 that produced numerous Ford products, but mainly Lincoln models. Most notably the Lincoln Continental was produced from 1958-2002 as was Ford’s supercar, the Ford GT. It was originally announced that the Ford Wixom plant would be mothballed in 2007 until a buyer showed up to utilize its space but it has remained unused ever since. The last car to roll down the assembly line was a white chocolate 2007 Lincoln Town Car.
In this particular video we get to see the best of blue collar America putting on the literal nuts and bolts on rolling chassis’s as they make their way down the assembly line. About halfway through the video we catch a glimpse of some burly Ford V8’s being bolted onto the chassis of what looks like a Ford Thunderbird frame. We also get to see the colorful lineup of some Ford Thunderbird’s waiting for final inspection as they make their way to their initial road tests.
Also in this particular YouTube channel is a bit of footage from Ford’s Louisville plant, altough we admit that footage is not as “exciting.”
