Toyota Unveils GT 86 Blackline Edition For Australian Market

Toyota unveiled a special edition Toyota GT86/Scion FR-S just for the Australian market.
Good news if you’re a Toyota GT86/Scion FR-S enthusiast and live in Australia. According to Toyota Australia earlier this weekend it looks like a special Blackline edition was unveiled that takes the regular GT86 and adds choice pieces of aero here and there. Six months from now the Toyota 86 racing series will kick off in Australia, a racing series that pits up to 32 pro-am drivers against each other over five rounds all competing for a prize pool of $125,000 and opportunities for other racing in the future. Why can’t we have fun racing series’s like that here in the United States?

Suffice to say, this Toyota 86 is stuffed to the gills with TRD Aero. This newest edition derives its special-edition name from the twin black stripes on the roof and bonnet offset by the liquid white exterior paint color.
And the details don’t stop there as inside there are red accents found on the seats, steering wheel, gearshift knob, handbrake lever and door grips.
The final products adds a bit of exterior bite to the Toyota GT 86. Technically speaking, all these aero piece might actually make this Toyota GT86 slower when compared to a stock GT86 with maybe a slight advantage in grip and cornering with the aero improvements all around.

It would’ve been nice if Toyota at least threw on a revised intake and exhaust to justify the new aggressive aerodynamics but we’re not complaining. It looks great.
