This Honda Jet Apparently Comes With VTEC
By Paulo Acoba
With the Honda Jet priced out of reach of the average Joe, someone had a bit of fun with one Honda Jet taking off, adding his own soundtrack.
The Honda Jet is one step closer to becoming ready for sales thanks to certification from FAA achieved earlier last week. But priced at a whopping $4.5 million (which is a bargain as far as small private business jets go) it’s unlikely that the average Joe would be able to buy one in their lifetime. That didn’t stop some Honda enthusiasts with a bit of video editing software to add an engine soundtrack of their own that adds a bit more realism to the whole Honda experience of this jet. Take a listen to this Honda Jet taking off below and try not to laugh. You won’t expect what you’re about to hear.

The first few seconds of the video shows this sprightly little passenger jet getting ready for approval to take off from the tower. Then you hear it, the familiar sound of a regular ol’ four-cylinder accelerating to redline from a standstill with a shift from first, second and finally third gear with a light VTEC engaging. At this point, you’ve probably already realized its a joke and that’s entirely the whole point.
The real Honda Jet uses a pair of GE Honda/ HF120 jet engines mounted in an innovative Over-The-Wing Engine mount that was finally put into practice after 20 years of research. The engines themselves have a 2,095 lbf thrust rating with an engine that’s both efficient and quiet.
And with a range of a littler over 1,300 miles, it will be the favorite choice for the businessman on a budget.
