Haggard Garage’s famed Lexus Twin-Turbo 2JZ Lexus exploded and caught fire.

If you’re a fan of the motley crew of car enthusiasts on YouTube known as Haggard Garage, then you’re already aware that a trip to Club Loose’s Slay Ride was in the works, a two-day event where enthusiasts, pro-am drivers and professional drifters converge onto English Town for a weekend of drifting. According to Haggard Garage’s latest video it looks like one of their rides, a Twin-Turbo 2JZ Lexus GS300, finally succumbed to its own hack-engineering and blew up in epic fashion. Check out the POV video they published below.

"Yes, we know the car is a hooptie and turboed like the protege but it was still fun as hell to drive. Time for a swapHuge thanks to Clubloose for throwing this sick ass event ! We’ll be seeing you next season !"

Like all things Haggard Garage, as the name suggests this particular build was hastily put together for maximum fun with minimal regard for overall reliablity and engine longevity. Many commenters in the video were quick to point out many times in Haggard’s videos, the host Orion said this particular Lexus would be nothing but a reliable daily, which hasn’t been the case to the enjoyment of all their fans.

The video itself is pretty straightforward as far as turbo explosions go. Although we’re not entirely sure what exactly caused this particular case of self-destruction, we’re pretty sure improper lubrication played a role in its untimely demise. For one thing, g-forces exerted on an engine during drifting far exceed what’s normal for your run of the mill luxury Lexus. Mix that in with what they’ve dubbed, “hack-engineering” and you have a recipe for disaster.

Props to Orion as this doesn’t look like it was his first rodeo seeing how quickly he exited his harness and grabbed his fire extinguisher (although that particular extinguisher proved woefully inadequate and pretty much broken.) Luckily for him there was a fire marshall nearby to put out the flames before things got really out of hand.
