Alpha-N Performance BMW 1 Series M Coupe Packs 564 HP and 540 Lb-ft
By Paulo Acoba
Relativly new German BMW tuners Alpha-N introduced a tuning package for the BMW 1 Series M Coupe with 564 HP and 540 Lb-ft.
Although it’s been about three years since the last BMW 1 series and the legendary M Coupe rolled off the assembly line, the aftermarket for the Twin Turbo N54B30 straight six has remained strong worldwide. According to Alpha-N performance on their latest press release, these relatively new German tuners decided to turn up the wick on this platform which still has plenty of room for tuners to exploit. Check out a couple of shots of this unassuming BMW 1 Series M Coupe that packs a wallop of power below.
Originally the BMW 1 Series M coupe put down a healthy 365 HP and 343 lb-ft that was good enough for a 0-60 MPH time in the low four-second range. Alpha-N performance had the simple goal of ending up with final power numbers that start with five. What the ended up with was about roughly 200 more HP and Lb-ft at the crank.

In a former build, Alpha-N performance was able to extract less than half of what they achieved back in 2012 with a remapped ECU and new air intake and exhaust adding just 70 more HP.
This time, around both turbochargers now sport larger compressors and turbine wheels in a modified housing. Cooler air temps come courtesy of a Wagner tuning EVO3 intercooler as well as more airflow velocity and volume takencared of by a Forge Blow-off valve. The fuel pump, spark plugs and ignition coil packs were also upgraded.
Underneath, exhaust gasses flow freely through a Wagner cat back system with their “Race” middle silencer.
In the trunk, Alpha-N has added its own bespoke Snow Stage 3 water-methanol injection system that uses a 50:50 mixture of distilled water and ethanol. When in use cooling the “top-end” of the engine, considerably more power is produced.
After Alpha-N reworked the ECU to take advantage of all these upgrades, as mentioned, final power numbers hit 564 HP and 540 lb-ft.
Putting all that power to the ground is taken cared of by fully adjustable Ohlins coil-over suspension with settings for road and track.
Aero wasn’t left too the wayside as the front splitter and rear lip come courtesy of BMW performance. Other than that, the rest of the BMW 1 series M coupe remains untouched and as Alpha-N puts it, this tuner special is now a “real wolf in sheep’s clothing.
