By Paulo Acoba
The critically acclaimed Game of Thrones author took his purple Tesla Model S to a local meetup and enjoyed himself.
What does a world renowned author do when he’s got a bit of writers block and needs to take a break? Well, he goes to a local car meet of course. According to Electrek.co on their report on the surprise appearance they posted up a couple of days ago, the Tesla Motor Club of New Mexico had their monthly meetup and had George R.R. Martin pull up in his custom painted purple Tesla Model S.
Not only did George answer a couple of questions on the next installment of his book, but he checked out a Tesla Model X as well. Check out a couple of pictures from the meetup by clicking here.
It’s a well-known fact that George R.R Martin isn’t a fan of new technologies when they get in the way of things. In a world where the average person is using the latest version of Microsoft Word, Martin is till using DOS to push out his best sellers. But when it comes to a set of wheels, he seems to have adopted the electric car lifestyle head on without a fuss.
George lives with his wife in Santa Fe, New Mexico which was just a hop, skip, and a jump away from Meow Wolf, a local art collective and popular meetup for the New Mexico Tesla group. Keen eyes will notice in the photo gallery that the popular author was also waxing poetic while enjoying a pint of Guinness. If you don’t believe us head over to the gallery linked above to check it out for yourself.

George R.R. Martin is currently writing up the next installment to A Song of Fire and Ice dubbed “The Winds of Winter.” Martin has admitted in the past that distractions are one of the causes for this latest installment taking so long. If him checking out the Model X has piqued his interest, we might see George distracted a bit further if he decides to upgrade from his Model S to something with a bit more legroom in their gull-winged SUV.
