So what do we know about the Tesla Model 3 already? First, we know that the stakes are very high for this newest vehicle. Elon Musk has already said that this will be the “most important car Tesla will make.” A lower entry price signals Tesla as jumping into the mass market. With a large investment in their new gigafactory in Nevada, cheaper batteries are an important reason as to how economies of scale makes this Tesla Model 3 affordable.
For performance, details have already leaked that the Tesla Model 3 would be capable of 0-60 MPH in 4.1 seconds and have around 200 miles of range.
Seeing how popular autopilot is, we’re certain that this Tesla Model 3 will have some form of autonomous driving similar to what’s already available on the Tesla Model S and Tesla Model X. Levels of autonomy are most likely not yet finalized for today’s reveal.
For the design language, you can obviously look to a mixture of what the Tesla Model S and X offer. Expect a four-door saloon similar in dimensions as the BMW 3-Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class. Pictured above is the Tesla Model 3 supposedly under wraps.
Expect a list price of $35,000 before taxes and as cheap as $25,000 after all is said and done.
Elon Musk did drop this nugget of information earlier today pertaining to the unveiling.
So while we’ll see the Tesla Model 3 in all its glory tomorrow, we’ll see an evolution of that design when production commences around early 2017.
So fasten your seatbelts and get ready. Today may very well be a defining moment in our motoring history.
