Most of you already know we are big fans of the Forza Motorsport racing franchise here at Art of Gears.  In fact, we are such big fans that chances are you can find at least one of us racing in the weekly Forza 6 Online League Hopper matches, driving hard trying to stay at the top of the leaderboards. I really enjoy grinding it out in Forza 6, but because it has always been an Xbox One console game, it’s hard to get my “race on” when traveling. You see, attending car enthusiast events throughout the year often requires packing your bags and traveling in order to participate and report on the coolest, fastest cars on the planet. Trying to bring your Xbox One console and favorite HDTV along with you to every event doesn’t always work out.

Microsoft has made many of us “mobile” eSports racers very happy with the announcement of Forza Motorsport 6: Apex for Windows 10 PC’s. And the “Open Beta” starts on May 5th.  This is a huge announcement from Microsoft because racing fans been asking for a Forza Motorsport title to be released on PC for years!

Forza Motorsport 6: Apex is designed for both new and old players to the Forza franchise and it promises to deliver authentic racing action, unique automotive content and constant rewards. The game’s career mode will feature a new Showcase Tour, and new objectives and scoring systems will be introduced.

The career mode is based off a new 12-event “Showcase Tour”, which introduces players to their favorite dream cars, and unique automotive match-ups through a series of beautifully crafted and entertaining videos, narrated by automotive celebrities such as James May and Richard Hammond.

The version, which was written in Microsoft’s Universal Windows Platform (UWP), features over 60 cars and a variety of new race modes. The main focus of the game is the Showcase Tour mode, which includes 12 different events, based around specific motorsport stories. There’s also a free drive mode, that allows you to jump in any car on any of the six available environments, and the pre-race lobby includes much of the same customization as the full game, including being able to load your own tuner set-up and assists.
