In case you missed it, Formula Drift Driver Vaughn Gittin Jr. made it look easy with his win at Round 2 of the Formula Drift event last weekend at Road Atlanta. Vaughn and his team at Monster Energy stuck to the game plan and qualified in first place with the new 2016 Monster Energy Ford Mustang RTR. By qualifying first, the team secured the coveted first round bye to open the second day of competition, allowing the team to devise a calculated plan to knock off the remaining competitors.

In the end, it came down to veteran drivers Vaughn Gittin Jr and Dai Yoshihara going at it for the final. And when the smoke finally cleared, it was Gittin’s Monster Energy Mustang RTR who came out on top.

In the video, Vaughn Gittin Jr. takes us around the exact Drift run that earned him the victory and shows us just how precise a driver has to be to keep the car on track. It takes a combination of throttle control, gear selection, and proper vehicle placement to achieve that “Epic” Drift around the track.

In case you missed it, here is Vaughn Gittin Jr. taking us through the Streets of Long Beach during Round One of the Formula Drift Championship.
