Koenigsegg and the customer have jointly taken a decision on what to do with the Agera RS Gryphon which crashed during shakedown testing in Sweden recently.

The other day we did a piece on the Koenigsegg Agera RS which landed in a ditch during shakedown testing on a wet track in Sweden. The conditions weren’t in favor of the 1,000 hp+ hypercar and factory test driver lost control of the car which spun out of the track and crashed. The Swedish exotic carmaker had issued a statement through its blog that the crash didn’t occur because of any technical or mechanical issues too.

We were curious to know how the customer who had ordered this heavily-customized Agera RS Gryphon (yes, the same one which was there at Geneva Motor Show 2017) would take the news of his much-awaited exotic beauty meeting with such a tragic accident.

Koenigsegg hypercars have an unbearably-long waiting period of up to 4 years and giving away a crashed car after mending it wasn’t an option which will go enhance with the brand’s image by any means.

So the customer – Manny Khoshbin – a California-based real estate magnate – and Koenigsegg came to a decision which turned out to be in the best interests of both parties.

Koenigsegg is going to mend the crashed Agera RS Gryphon. But it instead of handing it over to Khoshbin, the Swedish company will be keeping the hypercar as a demo vehicle. As for Khoshbin, a brand-new Koenigsegg Agera RS will be built for him based on a new spec. Koenigsegg has also announced that the work for it has already begun.

Manny Khoshbin shared the news on his Instagram page with an image of his crashed Gryphon.

Koenigsegg too shared the news from their side, supported by an image of the crashed Gryphon undergoing repair.

Is this Agera RS Gryphon going to be the first company demo car with gold leaf details? Possibly, yes!

Koenigsegg’s pro- activeness and admirable manner of handling the incident has received positive acclaim from the customer as well as the elite clientele that they cater to. However, it remains to be seen on how many more years Khoshbin will have to wait for his new Agera RS. We wouldn’t worry much about him though as the man owns a fleet of supercars. His Instagram account is basically car porn at its juiciest best.

Now must be a good time for Koenigsegg to speed up their hiring process to get some more hands on the factory floor.
