Audi makes a green topless monster which isn’t the Hulk. To make matters better, the Audi R8 Spyder V10 plus is faster and meaner than Marvel’s “always angry” superhero.

A naturally-aspirated 5.2-liter V10 engine which produces 610 hp of power and 560 Nm of torque. One can only expect thunder and lightning from a sports car which comes with that kind of a powerplant. And the topless Audi R8 Spyder V10 plus is just that. Oh… it’s also the fastest series-production convertible model from the brand.

Add a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox and Audi’s signature all-wheel-drive Quattro system to it and the R8 Spyder V10 plus erupts with joy when given a good stretch of road. You get to see a lot of that in the car’s first promotional video. A top speed of 204 mph and instant acceleration from 0 to 62 mph in 3.3. seconds will be the convertible’s major bragging points.

While the second-generation model of the standard Audi R8 Spyder made its debut last year, the Germans took their sweet little time to come up with the topless variant of the V10 plus model. The Spyder V10 plus is lighter than the regular R8 Spyder by 25kg. Everyone likes a lighter sports car.

What else is new? Well, it has this envy-inducing shade of micrommata green paint along with loads of carbon-fiber components. The list doesn’t end there. Singleframe grille, black tailpipe covers, rear spoiler, 12.3-inch Audi Virtual Cockpit, Audi Drive Select, black interior, Nappa leather trim, it goes on and on.

Now comes the footwear choices. You’ll get 19-inch forged aluminum wheels shod with 245/35 on the front and 295/35 on the back in the Audi R8 Spyder V10 plus, in its “regular” guise. But if you are willing to shell out some more cash, Audi will be more than happy to kit the car up with 20-inch wheels, shod with 245/30 and 305/30 tires at the front and back respectively.

Six piston calipers at the front and four piston calipers at the back, bite into the carbon-fiber ceramic composite discs to bring the car to a halt when needed.

The Audi R8 Spyder V10 plus featured in the images has been done up in the Audi exclusive micrommata green design package. It’s turning many of us green with envy.

Audi has also released a new video ad for the R8 Spyder V10 plus too. The choice of background score as well as the sight of the cabrio having a lot of fun on European mountain roads showcased in the clip are pleasing. However, they could have done away with that not-so-apt “mirror image” editing. Kind of sucked the joy out of an otherwise well-shot promotional video.
