A murdered-out Rolls Royce Dawn? Yes, that’s the Black Badge for you and it has the go to supplement all that show.

Rolls Royce is gradually shifting lanes from being a maker of luxury yachts for the road to obtain the tag of a carmaker that builds performance cars which are targeted at younger buyers. Models like the Wraith and the Dawn started the trend and now with the Black Badge versions, the brand is now going all-out with the effort to be more appealing to the younger demographics. And the Rolls Royce Dawn Black Badge is more than just a murdered-out super-luxury car.

Well, it has to live up to that badge extension that reads “Black Badge” and so this edition of the Rolls Royce Dawn is all-black. There is hardly anything on the exterior which isn’t of the color that’ll make both Batman and Darth Vader extremely pleased while signing the dotted line. The grille, the wheels, the exhaust pipes and even the otherwise untouched Spirit of Ecstasy perched on the hood have got a thick coat of glossy, black chrome.

The all-black theme is carried forward to the interior, with the leather and trim following the same path to the dark side. However, bright stripes of orange and a couple of contrasting elements in aluminum finish shine through the darkness.

More from Cars

The praiseworthy aspect about the Rolls Royce Dawn Black Badge is that the carmaker chose to give the convertible’s powerplant some more horses to play around with. A 30 hp boost in power and 15 lb-ft torque hike now places the Black Badge Dawn’s 6.6-liter V12 in a good place with revised numbers of 593 hp and 619 lb-ft.

The exhaust system has been replaced with a new one which has the sound to match the looks. Nobody would want a car that looks so intimidating as Batman to sound like Alfred. To make the Rolls Royce Dawn Black Badge behave as a wilder beast, the brakes, suspension and steering system have received their respective share of tuning too. The 7-speed automatic transmission too has been tweaked to provide quicker shifts.

Rolls Royce had displayed the Black Badge versions of the Ghost and the Wraith at this year’s Geneva Motor Show. While those two happen to be more powerful and menacing than the Dawn Black Badge, the latter still packs one hell of a mean punch. The car made its official debut at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.
