The Bentley Continental GT Galene Edition By Mulliner is inspired by the finest of luxury yachts. But is it as special as the Rolls Royce Sweptail?

When that one-off uber-expensive Rolls Royce Sweptail was unveiled, it was quite evident that the designers were dreaming about yachts when the lines were being put down on paper. The Bentley Continental GT Galene Edition By Mulliner isn’t as special or bespoke as the Sweptail. But then again, it doesn’t cost $12.8 million to sail home in one of limited edition Mulliner Bentleys.

Crafted by Bentley’s bespoke commissioning division, Mulliner, this piece inspired by luxury yachts and the serene seas that one would always wish for when sailing out into the open ocean. Galene is the Greek goddess of calm seas and that’s who this special edition Continental GT has been named after. Bentley’s decision to to pick the convertible over the coupe was indeed an inspired choice as a cabrio captures the essence of a yacht more than a coupe.

Coated in a shade of Glacier White which belongs on the hull of an ocean liner or a luxury yacht, the Bentley Continental GT Galene Edition By Mulliner has a dark blue convertible top. The Sequine Blue highlight line which runs along the lower portion of the body is much like the same treatment administered on the Flying Spur Design Series by Mulliner. It’s of course a reference to the calm and clear waters offered by the goddess Galene for a perfect day of nautical adventure. The exterior drama is wrapped up with those 21-inch alloys which come in a propeller-inspired design. Again, the yacht theme that this car is all about.

Mulliner has created an ultimate version of luxury with the Continental GT convertible Galene Edition. It’s a perfect blend of the yacht lifestyle and luxury open-top motoring. Prepare to be greeted by an interior that flaunts materials and trim that can be found in premium yachts and of course, those which are unique to Bentley’s most luxurious cars.

Pinstripe Walnut finish wood, leather, Alcantara, Linen, Portland and Brunel all come together to form an exquisite interior. A unique hand-painted Jaume Vilardell illustration of a super yacht alongside the Mulliner script on the fascia panel can be ordered too. Head to the rear and open the boot. The trunk floor is worth writing home about for that impeccable wood finish it has.

Mechanically, the Bentley Continental GT Galene Edition By Mulliner is same as the standard car with a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 which provides 500 hp of power and 487 lb-ft of torque.

The Galene Edition is still going to be a rare car to spot around the world as Mulliner will be making only 30 of these. That’s lesser than the number of Bentley Flying Spur Design Series by Mulliner special editions that you are likely to come across.
