The Jaguar XJ is ready for 2018 and leading the charge is the Jaguar XJR575 performance version. You really shouldn’t mess with this one at the signal.

Jaguar is turning into one of the most entertaining car brands of today. They are making bespoke and limited edition performance cars like the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 which is a 200 mph, 592 hp missile for the roads. And there are even rumors of Jag planning a Mercedes-AMG GT rival sometime in the future. But for now, they have revised the XJ luxury saloon for model year 2018 and added a big, badass version called the Jaguar XJR575 to the top rack.

While it isn’t as monstrous and aggressive as the XF SV Project 8 machine, the Jaguar XJR575 is not a poodle. This one is a thoroughbred hellhound and for a car of its size, dimensions and category, the figures are nothing short of impressive.

Underneath that hood lies a huge 5.0-litre V8 Supercharged engine which churns out 567 hp of power. That’ll be 575 PS upon converting to the now-fashionable meter. Now you know what the 575 in the name stands for. 516 lb-ft pf torque is also at your disposal.

The performance model isn’t cheap as UK prices for the Jaguar XJR575 start at £59,995.

Floor the gas pedal and the big Jag will lunge forward to clock 62 mph from a standstill in 4.4 seconds. Smash the pedal all the way on a good stretch of tarmac and you are in 186 mph territory in a mere 44-second timeframe. This is the most powerful XJ in the range and it’s great to see it having the performance that matches its resume.

The Jaguar XJR575 can be ordered in two SVO special paint schemes – Velocity Blue and Satin Corris Grey. Exterior upgrades include sporty bumpers with lower air intakes, bonnet louvers, side sills, rear spoiler and gloss black alloys. Yep, the XJR575 badging is on all the right places. Interior tweaks include more XJR575 badging, like the one embossed on the bespoke tread plates. Diamond-quilted seating can be ordered in Ivory/Jet and Jet/Jet color schemes.

Jaguar has shot a promo clip featuring TV presenter and race car driver Amanda Stretton interviewing Production Studio Director and SVO Projects Director, Wayne Burgess as the XJR575 accelerates from 0 to its top speed of 186 mph. It’s a short and fast (literally) chat on the car as a professional driver takes over the wheel to do what he was hired to do. Drive the damn thing as fast as he could while Stretton and Burgess discuss about what makes this Jag special.
