The facelifted Toyota Land Cruiser shown at Frankfurt is a Europe-only affair with lots of changes inside-out. Has a grille large enough to swallow hatchbacks too.

Are you one of those drivers who get intimidated by a big, burly SUV which pops up in the rear-view mirror and growls? Well, here is a new face to be terrified of. At least in Europe, hatchback drivers will now be treated to the enormous front grille and ferocious face of the new Toyota Land Cruiser. The new model of the best-selling 4X4 has made its European debut at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show.

Often regarded as the best SUV in the world (Sorry, Range Rover fans!), the Toyota Land Cruiser has always received acclaim for its real-world off-roading capabilities and bulletproof reliability. Which is why it’s sold in 190 countries and the best-selling off-roader in ten of those.

With the new version, Toyota has hit the ball out of the park. The entire front fascia has gone under the knife and the Land Cruiser came out of the surgery room looking as angry as the Marvel green guy in shorts. This one wears combats though, with its love to get that outfit dirty with mud, slush, sand and rocks. In case you are curious, the rear end has been revised to match the aggressive new looks of the front.

More from Cars

The current Toyota Land Cruiser has been shuttling kids to school and getting men to the wilderness in Europe since 2009.

Design changes on the outside and inside have been made after taking into consideration the feedback from existing customers on maneuverability. The Toyota Land Cruiser is a mammoth and it does demand the driver to be careful while driving this juggernaut around the city without leaving scratches and dents on the cars and cityscape around you.

With the new design, some of those issues have been fixed as the driver gets a better estimation of the vehicle’s extremities.
