Unfortunately, one cannot get a fair taste of this 300-HP machine out on the streets. Why? Because it will not be street legal. Even so, we are definitely excited about it hitting U.S. soil.

Ever fancied hooning around in a car that weighs just north of 1,750 pounds, but with as much as 300 horses on tap? Well we have! And that is exactly why we have been eagerly waiting for KTM X-Bow to make its U.S. debut. The news has finally been announced that the X-Bow Comp R, a super insane track machine, will go on sale in the U.S. through KTM’s first sales partners in the country.

Initially, the sports car would be retailed through HMC Racing in Cato, Wisconsin and ANSA Motorsports in Miami Gardens, Florida – two of the first U.S. sales partners for the brand.

The base X-Bow Comp R model packs an Audi-derived 2.0-liter turbo four delivering 330 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. This engine is paired to a six-speed manual transmission. The exclusive KTM X-Bow Comp R 1st Edition, on the other hand, is boosted to 350 horses, alongside a multitude of extensive aero upgrades and with almost all available extras attached.

The Comp R has been successfully homologated for Formula S&A Racer classes in SCCA racing events. Needless to say, this machine will also be used in private closed-course track races as well.

More from Cars

The X-Bow Comp R is set to make a resplendent entry into the market through an official launch event next weekend at the MotoGP COTA round in Austin, Texas.

The two seater sports car was earlier rumored to hit the U.S. roads by Spring 2017. The brand now seems to be in an effort of building a small dealer network consisting mostly of racetrack owners and operators  interested in buying fleets of the car. KTM has a goal of selling as many as 30 to 40 units per year in the days to come.

The Xbow was earlier available in the United States as a kit car, where one had to buy the engine and body separately and later assemble it into a single soul. This was also necessary in order to get the car to pass state regulations. Thankfully enough, all that chaos os history now. Rejoice and stay tuned to see the X-Bow hit the tracks of America.
