With the advent of super-lux SUVs, and Maybach returning to the Mercedes-Benz lineup, we knew it was only a matter of time before an SUV from Maybach reared its head.  Well, now it has and I am asking myself, what were they thinking?

I mean, the thing is a monstrosity and it leaves me scratching my head wondering what they were doing.  I try not to bash too much unless I feel I need to.

Images leaked today of the Vision Maybach-Mercedes SUV, the key word here is Vision which means it is still a concept.  Which is good, maybe the company will take some of the online criticism and just try again.  Scrap it and redo it.

I don’t suppose you want to see it huh.

Here it is, in all its red crazy glory.

The turbine wheels are actually pretty cool, and the photos of the interior are absolutely on point.  I am a fan of white interior although it is something I could never have.  It would get way too dirty.  The dual screens throw it off just a little in the top right hand side, but I really love the wood on the doors inlaid with lighting.  I sincerely hope that makes it onto the production model and trickles down to something I could maybe afford used. This should really have been more like a GL body style.

This is all we have so far.

No specs have been leaked at all and it is looking like we will not know what powers the car until it is revealed in Bejing.  Likely for the booming Chinese market, the vehicle will sell well no matter what it looks like.  The China market is perfect for this vehicle where large sedans do very well, and since this is a VERY large sedan when it comes down to it, this is a perfect market.

While we are here, let’s talk about SUV Coupes.

I hate them.

Maybe it is an issue of me not understanding the why.  Why would anyone buy an SUV Coupe like the GLE Coupe or the X6-X4?  To me, they are basically much less usable SUV’s.  They have less trunk space, less headroom in the back and are just plain ugly.  Can someone explain this to me?  Please
