ARCA “General Tire 150 at Phoenix Raceway” Preview

This upcoming Friday evening at Phoenix Raceway the ARCA Menards Series will run its second race of the season. The General Tire 150 is the first race of the 2021 ARCA Menards Series West season and is scheduled to start at 7:30 pm (ET).

This is the second race of the ARCA season.

The 2021 season opener at the Daytona International Raceway was won by Corey Heim of Venturini Motorsports. Heim is on a two-race winning streak, he won the 2020 season finale at Kansas Speedway. But he finished eighth in his last Phoenix start at the ARCA Menards Series West finale in 2020.

Ty Gibbs is using Friday’s ARCA race to prepare for Saturday’s Xfinity Series race on Saturday. Ty is the grandson of Joe Gibbs and races with his family’s team, Joe Gibbs Racing. Gibbs won the 2019 Arizona Lottery 100 at Phoenix Raceway, NASCAR K&N Pro Series West at the time, at the age of 16.

This Friday’s race will award points in both the ARCA Menards Series and the ARCA Menards Series West for the first time in Phoenix Raceway history.

Phoenix Raceway is a one-mile tri-oval asphalt track. The low-banked track was built in 1964 and is situated in the Phoenix suburb of Avondale. The ARCA Menards Series has been racing at Phoenix Raceway since 1977, with a hiatus from 1985-1987.

Last November David Gilliland won the ARCA Menards Series West Race after qualifying on the pole, 27.452-seconds at 131.138 mph.

Toni Breidinger, the first Arab-American female NASCAR driver, will make her second ARCA Menards Series start of the 2021 season. At Daytona she started 31st and finished 18th and on Friday she will drive the No. 02 Young’s Motorsports Chevy.

The General Tire 150 will be broadcast live on MAVTV Motorsports Network and the green flag is set to wave at 7:30 pm (ET).
