Today is the 60th anniversary of the Jaguar E-Type. Upon its international reception Enzo Ferrari remarked, “The Jaguar’s E-Type is the most beautiful car in the world.”

Many were apt to agree with “Il Commendatore” and as the founder of the Scuderia Ferrari Racing Team and Ferrari sports cars, well, he knows quite a bit about judging automotive beauty.

To honor the 60th birthday of the E-Type is offering the “E-Type 60 Collection” which is six-pairs of the 1961 Jaguar E-Type, one coupé and one convertible. The limited-edition pairs are fully restored E-Types, ‘9600 HP & 77RW’. Please inquire within for the price.

The ‘9600 HP’ was the 1961 E-Type coupé that was lent to a select few automotive journalists for car review features. The ’77RW’ was driven through the night from Coventry to Geneva to make in its grand appearance at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1961.

The 1961 E-Type was powered by a 3.8-liter inline-six engine that was topped by a trio of SU carburetors. The engine produced a factory-rated 265hp and a four-speed manual transmission got the power to the rear wheels.

With a long, sleek design it was highly aerodynamic and could go from 0-60 mph in 7.0-seconds and had a top speed of 150 mph. Production of the 1961 E-Type was low with 3,422 produced and it would set you back $5,890.00 ($51,811 in 2021).

The E-Type 60 Collection coupé and convertible are restored and maintain the same style as originally produced but have a five-speed manual transmission and upgraded polished stainless-steel exhaust system. They are also finished in colors that will not be available on any other Jaguar.

On the console is an engraving by King Nerd that shows the E-Type’s original route from Coventry to the Geneva Motor Show.

Those fortunate enough to own the limited-edition E-Type 60 Collection will get a three-day driving odyssey from Coventry to Geneva in 2022.
