Buick Regal Getting Aggressive Price Cut For 2016
By Paulo Acoba
Buick Regal GS Sport recieving $3,000 price cut for 2016 model year.
If there’s one way to move buyers into a showroom, a good price cut can do the trick. According to Autoblog on their piece earlier yesterday (Aug. 3, 2015) it looks like GM’s #2 best-selling mid-sized sedan (#1 being the Cadillac CTS lineup) will be getting a price cut across the whole Regal Range. The Buick Regal is a fine car in its own right, but the Regal faces stiff competition from cross shoppers also looking at small crossover SUV’s as well as other more popular and better equipped mid-sized sedans. Listed below is the entire list of price cuts for Regal.
- Regal GS- $3,320 now starts at $35,915
- Regal 1Sp Premium- $2,535 now starts at $33,425
- Regal 1SL- $1,000 now starts at $30,840
- Regal 1SV- no price cut now starts at $28,915

According to Buick’s spokesperson, they know tastes have shifted away from mid-sized sedans and closer to CUV’s. Ironically, Buick’s own Encore is selling far better as it’s priced more attractively and offers that ever important higher seating position.
Though Buick’s smaller Verano and full-size LaCrosse cars usually grab the spotlight away from Regal, the Regal still remains an appealing sedan on its own merits. Based on the Insigna from Opel (GM’s Germany-based brand), the handling and ride is plenty balanced and the interior is nicely appointed. If you’re in the market for a mid-sized sedan, with the recent price cut, it would behoove you to test drive a Regal. With three engines available, there’s something for everyone. Stock is Regal’s N/A 2.0 good for a respectable 182 HP and 172 lb-ft. Regal’s mild-hybrid setup adds a lithium ion battery to capture braking energy and assist in MPG’s. And finally, Buick’s 2.0 Turbo has a healthy 259 HP and 295 lb-ft a.k.a. the Drivers choice.
