Cadillac is slowly rolling out information on its 2017 Cadillac XT5.

The Cadillac SRX has been selling very well for Cadillac at home and abroad selling close to 7000 units in August. But it’s replacement has officially begun its campaign according to an official tweet Cadillac sent out to the world earlier today (Sept. 9, 2015.) And how does Cadillac debut its XT5? By flying it over the Hudson River after being airlifted from the launch party. Yup. That just happened. Check out the official tweets below.

Rumor is that the 2017 Cadillac will officially debut in Dubai at the Dubai Motor Show and should be quite the hit. After the Dubai debut (say that ten times fast…) the Cadillac XT5 will make its American appearance at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

Details are sparce about the XT5 and more information will be revealed as the Dubai Motor Show comes closer but what we do know is that underpinning the XT5 will be GM’s all new C1XX platform, aFWD SUV platform that will replace GM’s tried and true Theta platform. The Theta platform has been in use since 2002 in crossovers like the Saturn Vue and the Saab 9-4X. Needless to say, an update is long overdue.

For propulsion, you can look to the 2016 Cadillac ATS, CTS and CT6 for a clue as GM’s 3.6L V6 LGX engine will most likely be used. In the CT6, this engine makes 355 HP and 284 Lb-ft which should be more than enough for this luxury crossover.

Where a car company chooses to debut a car says a lot and GM is swinging for the high roller fences with a Dubai debut. After all, sales are hot in the Middle East for Cadillac. Sales have grown 48 percent since last year and overall growth is over 100 percent. You heard it here first, the 2017 Cadillac XT5 will be a home run as far as we’re concerned.
