Located in the residential and commercial neighborhood of Mar Mikhael in the Achrafieh district of Beirut, Lebanon, this particular station has been cited for being one of the more aesthetically pleasing stations to pump for gas in the entire country. Since an economic rival of sorts at the turn of the century, Mar Michael has seen tons of bars, restaurants, and cafes popping up all over the place. And apparently it looks like this economic upheavel has spread all the way to its gas stations.
A bit of insider knowledge courtesy of reddit user SuaveAndAloof confirmed that the foilage did get a bit of help from the developers. “The way they hold the foliage is through metal fencing, and it basically just loops around the metal wires.”
Apparently after the sun goes down and the bar scene picks up steam as the night grows longer, this gas station turns into a car park for incoming cars making their way to downtown areas.

And for those people worried about the safety of the entire hanging gardens, a couple of Redditors pointed out that it’s pretty difficult to ignite living plants when you really put an effort to it as they’re already full of water. You’d find better luck igniting dead plants at that. And the shade from the hanging foliage may even prevent fires from getting out of hand.
Overall, it’s a pretty cool design element and adds a bit of natural scenery to an otherwise unnatural setting.
