Watch This Motorcyclist Save A Suicidal Woman While Bystanders Did Nothing
By Paulo Acoba
When a Polish motorcyclist came across a bit of traffic on the road and happened upon this suicidal woman sitting in the middle of the road, the first thing he did was jump off his bike to help.
It’s the type of situation no one wants to come across on their way to work or going home but for this Polish biker who’s identified himself as Pawel O on YouTube, his selfless nature kicked in during a situation that called for immediate action. According to a thread that surfaced on Reddit sometime this Thursday, a lone biker happened to catch on camera, from his point of view, a woman sitting in the middle of the road in the UK in an attempted suicide. Instead of doing what everyone else was doing ,a whole lot of nothing, this motorcyclist quickly assessed the situation and jumped into action. Check out the entire video below.

The video starts out like dozens of other snarled traffic videos of the like before this one with a line of cars stopped at a dead standstill. Being able to maneuver his bike through traffic the biker makes his way to the front only to discover this distraught woman hunched over in the middle of the road. Upon closer inspection he discovers that a rope is cutting off circulation to this poor woman’s airways and immediately unties the ropes. Finally, other bystanders jump in to help and we can only assume that the woman recovered from her self-inflicted injuries.
A couple of commenters in the original Reddit thread cite the bystander effect as the reason behind the lack of action from the other people quietly watching the situation play out in front of them. According to Wikipedia,
"The bystander effect, or bystander apathy, is a social psychological phenomenon that refers to cases in which individuals do not offer any means of help to a victim when other people are present. The probability of help is inversely related to the number of bystanders. In other words, the greater the number of bystanders, the less likely it is that any one of them will help."
