Fiat, Chrysler, Ram Rank Well in JD Power Study
By Mike Garcia
Individual vehicles under Fiat, Dodge, and Ram rank well in JD Power’s Dependability Study despite stiff competition.
Fiat wasn’t always associated with words like, “reliability” and “dependability.” JD Power’s Dependability Study says otherwise.
The Fiat 500 now, leads the segment of dependability among city cars.
"VDS (Vehicle Dependability Study) is based on responses from 33,560 original owners of 2013 model-year vehicles after three years of ownership. The study was fielded from October through December 2015.“This is the first time the Fiat 500 has ranked highest in the City Car segment in this quality study,” said Matt Liddane, Vice President – Quality, FCA – North America. “The 500 has always been known for its Italian styling, functionality, efficient design and innovative technology – we’re proud to have this dependability honor in the mix as well.”"
The Ram Truck brand jumped up six spots to rank eighth overall amongst all automakers.
"“The 2013 model-year Ram Truck brand improvements vault us into the top 10 in the industry, which is an excellent accomplishment,” Liddane said. “This is the same model year where we saw the Ram 1500 win the ‘Triple Crown’ of truck awards – taking home Motor Trend Truck of the Year® honors, the 2013 North American Truck of the Year title and 1500 was named ‘Truck of Texas.’”"

Usually, fun cars do not link immediately with reliability, regardless of the brand. Positive remarks about Fiat, Dodge, and Ram speak volumes about improving quality and reliability. The Chrysler Town & Country ranked second among minivans, while the Dodge
ranked third among sport-midsize vehicles. This recent boost in dependability should boost consumer confidence with the Fiat, Dodge, and Ram brands.
For a mainstream group of manufacturers, Fiat, Dodge, and Ram provide a more exciting product line than the competition. The Fiat 500 Abarth provides 160 horsepower of punch through a 6-speed manual transmission in a lightweight package. The latest Dodge Ram truck has its’ own share of accolades. The latest Dodge Challenger retains classic retro design with All-American horsepower.
