Ah, the 2016 Porsche 911 GT3 RS…a 500 hp/338 lb-ft of torque, Naturally Aspirated Beast. This is one of my dream track cars…a car that ripped through the Nurburgring with a time of 7 minutes and 20 seconds, and a car that capable of hitting 0-60 in just 3.1 seconds…but wait; what does any of this have to do with LEGO’s? Well for starters, the price of actually owning one of these cars will run you around $176,000, so for most of us, feel free to read below if you still want to get in on a LEGO size piece of this action.

If you are a fan of the new Porsche 911 GT3 RS and have an extra $300 to burn, our friends at LEGO have confirmed that its new Porsche 911 GT3 RS will be available for purchase on June 1st.  This new buildable car set from LEGO, may just be our “cheap” alternative to owning one of these track ready race cars.  At 1:8 scale, this huge 2,704-piece LEGO set is being released under LEGO’s “Technic” product line, which focuses on building creations aimed toward a more technical aspect to the familiar LEGO design theme.

I know some of you can think of a much better ways of spending $300 dollars, but let me tell you that LEGO has worked hard to keep the attention to detail on this particular vehicle as accurate as possible. Because of the models large size, LEGO was able to fit a complete “flat-six” engine with functioning pistons, along with a fully functional double-clutch gearbox under the hood. There is an adjustable rear wing, RS badges on the wheels, detailed brake calipers, and it even comes in the same orange paint scheme that the real GT3 RS is offered in. Each model will also come with its own individual serial number which you can find conveniently located in the cars glove box.

What do you guys think? Is it worth it? Personally, I can already see myself staring at the car after my build is complete, dreaming about what it would feel like to actually shift through that seven-speed PDK gearbox on the track…now that’s a true car lover’s dream. Thanks, LEGO.
