The occupants were headed to Goodwood to attend the Festival of Speed when their McLaren 570S met with its disastrous end. There’s nothing left of the supercar to salvage.

Unless you are a hardcore enthusiast who can identify a supercar by the color of the body panel or the design of the wheels, you’ll fail miserably to figure out the car which crashed at Wiltshire in the United Kingdom. What you see in the images below is what is left of an orange McLaren 570S and in what can be called an act of God, both the driver and the passenger survived this crash.

Lee McClurg and Alex Bedford were driving during the early hours of the day to attend the Goodwood Festival of Speed when the disaster took place. The couple had taken delivery of the McLaren 570S around five weeks ago and had chosen the early morning time slot to drive so that they can avoid the heavy traffic headed to Goodwood.

Along the way, while passing through Wiltshire, McClurg swerved the 563 hp supercar hit to avoid hitting an animal on the road. Well, that didn’t end well. The car crashed into an electric pole first, breaking the pole in half and then rammed into a brick house thereafter. Meanwhile, the broken half of the aforementioned electric pole crashed into a window of the same house.

Fire crews had to go through a lot of trouble to extinguish the flames on the McLaren 570S and had to ensure that the house wasn’t damaged further.

Just when the occupants thought things had settled, the wall of the house collapsed and fell on top of the McLaren 570S as the car burst into flames. But McClurg and Bedford were saved by the passengers of the car which was behind them. The good Samaritans shattered the glass of the McLaren 570S and pulled the couple out to safety. Both McClurg and Bedford have minor injuries. But one look at the wreckage and you’ll see that the mere fact of them walking out of this accident in one piece is a miracle in itself.

Speaking to The Telegraph, McClurg who was driving the car insisted that he wasn’t driving above the speed limit and mentioned that the accident took place as he was trying to avoid hitting an animal that ran across the road.

"Unfortunately, at that time in the morning, there’s still lots of wildlife about, and we were driving down a stretch of road with woodland either side of it.There was a big animal that suddenly darted out in front of me – a deer or a badger or something – and I swerved to avoid it.I was trying to protect the animal but also to avoid any damage to my car."

The McLaren 570S in question had been with the couple for barely a month, before it met with its maker.

He also made an interesting remark about the McLaren’s steering response. We aren’t sure how the carmaker is going to take the comment below.

"The steering on these cars is manufactured to be quite playful, so I was only doing about 60mph, but it only takes a little bit of steering to really make it go."

Luckily no one in the house got hurt as well. The house has taken significant damage though and may have to go through an extensive rebuilding process. As for the McLaren 570S, it’s a total write-off as there is hardly anything left in the debris to salvage. All that the collapsed wall and the raging fire have spared are a bunch of wheels and a couple of body panels.
