Chevrolet Tahoe Custom Special Edition Announced At $44,995
That’s the starting price for the Chevrolet Tahoe Custom special edition and it’s loaded with features making the SUV a sensible value-for-money deal.
What if the third row seat on the Chevrolet Tahoe wasn’t there? That’s not the kind of question which will make you lose sleep at night. But for some SUV buyers, that’s exactly what they always wanted. Or that’s what Chevy thinks. Get rid of that seat and open up the rear for some more real estate for your luggage. That’s the Tahoe Custom all about. Or is there more to it? After all, it’s a Tahoe for the cost-conscious customer who doesn’t want a fully-loaded Premier version.
We’ll let Chevrolet themselves do the talking here as the official statement in the press release sums up the idea of the Chevrolet Tahoe Custom special edition pretty well. Sandor Piszar, Chevrolet Trucks Marketing Director says,
"The Tahoe Custom is a response to strong customer demand for Tahoe, as well as the full-size SUV segment moving upmarket. In the past five years, the average transaction price for the segment has climbed fueled by customer appetite for features like heated and cooled seats, adaptive cruise control and a head-up display. This created an unmet need in the marketplace for customers who want the cargo and towing capability of a full-size SUV to go camping, boating or off-roading but don’t necessarily want all of the option content offered on a Tahoe Premier."
And for a starting price of $44,995, which includes the destination fee, the Tahoe Custom comes with a lot of value too. While it is based on the LS trim and has got the price-conscious customers in its scope, you’ll get a bunch of additional stuff in the Custom with 8-inch painted aluminum wheels, all-season tires and a chrome-accented grille.

Features list includes Apple CarPlay & Android Auto compatibility, 4G LTE connectivity with Wi-Fi hotspot, 8-inch color touchscreen radio, rear-vision camera, remote start, Teen Driver feature and up to five USB ports and power outlets.
An Enhanced Driver Alert Package is also available.
Chevrolet has axed the third seat and cleared up that space for more luggage to be tucked in. That has added 54 cubic-feet of cargo area, thereby endowing the Custom with a total interior storage space of 112 cubic-feet. That’s once you fold down the second row of seats.

The engine powering the behemoth is a 355-hp, 5.3L V8 that is claimed to have a segment-best fuel economy figure of 23 mpg. The Chevrolet Tahoe Custom can tow 6,600 pounds and with the max trailering package that shoots up to 8,600 pounds. With a choice of 2WD and 4WD configurations, the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe Custom will reach Chevy dealers in the US in September 2017.
