After months of waiting on the edge of our seats, the Hennessey Venom F5 has finally been unveiled at the 2017 SEMA Show in Las Vegas.

It’s pretty straight forward; the Hennessey Venom F5 was built for one thing and one thing only – to be the fastest road car ever! With a max top speed of more than 300 mph (482 km/h), the Hennessey Special Vehicles company has done it! To achieve this goal, they needed to focus on having great aerodynamics and the lowest possible drag. For this, the team had to think up an entirely new design, chassis and carbon fiber body. Founder John Hennessey should certainly be proud that his latest hypercar just scared the rest away.

In an official press release, John Hennessey said:

"“We expect the Venom F5, named for the most powerful tornado speed winds on the Fujita scale, to be the first road car capable of achieving more than 300 mph and have worked closely with Pennzoil to get us across the finish line.”"

Hennessey says the Venom F5 is a 2,950-pound hypercar that can reach 186 mph in less than 10 seconds, as well as go from 0 mph to 249 mph and back in under 30 seconds. If all this is true, that would mean that this vehicle would break the current record of around 36 seconds.I don’t know about you, but we need a moment just for those specs to sink in. After all, even hearing about a 300 mph street legal car sends uncontrollable chills down our spines.

Aside from having Penzoil running through the F5’s V8, it also protects the engines found in every Hennessey build ever made. According to Hennessey’s press release, the company relies on Shell V-Power NiTRO+ Premium Gasoline to fuel each of their powerhouses from the test track to the road.

The breathtaking Hennessey Venom F5 made its world debut this week at the 2017 SEMA Show. Alongside it were the Exorcist TM and VelociRaptor 6×6.

The F5 at the SEMA Show was riding on Michelin Pilot Sport 4S summer tires, though the company is looking for a more suitable tire on their production car. Hennessey is planning to build only two dozen Venom F5s, with each priced at an incredible $1.6 million. Each of these rare beauties will be built in house at their Sealy, Texas facility.
