Lexus Announces Special 10th Anniversary F-Models
By Andrew Hulse
Lexus sent out a tweet announcing the arrival of some Special Edition F- Models to celebrate a decade of the performance marque.
The Lexus Special Edition will be available on a limited run of 2018 GS F and RC F models set to hit dealership floors this summer. Lexus will make 240 of the RC F and only 100 examples of the GS F.
The cars will stand out with the aid of Nebula Gray matte paint with blue and white leather seats inside. According to the press release, the matte paint will be hardy enough to withstand everyday rigors normal matte paints cant.
This is why Lexus does not use matte paint for most vehicles A mechanical car wash won’t be any big deal or ruin the paint. Blue carbon fiber will appoint the trim and dash. A plaque on the interior will denote which build number your particular car is.
The F performance line attempts and succeeds at breaking the stigma of Lexus building boring cars. The first of the F line of cars came about in 2006 with the IS F, followed by the now legendary LFA supercar in 2009 and now includes the GS F and RC F as current models. The F Line is also available as a package option on many Lexus models but doesn’t give much performance bump.
But how is the performance?
Lexus is also holding onto their naturally aspirated V8 for these models which will appease purists who are opposed to the turbo V6’s which are starting to take over the performance market.

Hopefully, this signals a continuation of the F marque and more performance focus from Lexus.
These 5.0 Liter naturally aspirated V8s provide 467 horsepower to both cars and lead both to a sub 5 second 0-60 mph via an 8-speed transmission.
Torque Vectoring is offered on the RC F Coupe only as the GS F is positioned more as a grand touring highway cruiser.
The RC F has a not so close cousin in the RC F GT3, pictured above, which explains the extra go-fast upgrades.
Both vehicles keep things planted with variable dampers and the multiple drive modes that are fairly standard in this segment. In order to get the 10th Anniversary Special Edition, some additional options must be chosen and there is no pricing available yet. T
