Mitsubishi Recalls More Than 200,000 Cars For Sunroof and Brakes

Things get real hard for Mitsubishi, with the recall affecting multiple models across the range from Outlanders to Lancer Evolutions and sportbacks.

So, the guys over at Mitsubishi recently noticed some serious issues with the sunroofs and parking brakes of its vehicles. Rightly enough, the automaker has now issued a massive recall for a vast multitude of cars for getting these problems mended. The number of affected vehicles amounts to as much as 227,000 units in the United States. The recalls are reported to begin sometime after March 27th.

The sunroofs of the affected cars, reportedly, are made of faulty glass that poses the threat of flying off any given moment. Affecting almost 57,000 Outlanders from 2007 to 2010, Lancers from 2008 to 2010, Lancer Evolutions from 2009 to 2010, and the 2010 Lancer Sportback, the sole remedy to these potent hazardous roof windows is to have them replaced completely – something that the automaker will take care of at no cost.

The second recall has its causes rooted on faulty parking brakes and affects over 170,000 Outlanders from 2014 to 2016 and the 2013 Outlander Sport. The brake calipers are reported to be prone to the confab with water, thus leading to the corrosion and sticking of the parking brake shafts. This can lead to the failure in their intended purpose and, of course, more dangerous things. The dealers are being said to replace the brake foot, lever and caliper bodies, if needed, as well as the piston assembly, in an effort to get the issue sorted.

Recent times have called for some mixed emotions about the Japanese automaker.

We have seen Mitsubishi proudly announce itself to have achieved a massive milestone of selling 1.03 million vehicles in 2017.  Also, it’s not been long since the manufacturer has had its taste of a terribly bitter emission scandal and finally was able to make a healthy recovery.

Finally, we stumble upon these recalls as well. Experts say these won’t necessarily harm Mitsubishi much in the long run, and we hope the same to happen too.
